Electric vehicles — it’s critics
Critics of Electric vehicles
EV’s didn’t achieve a lot of success in India due to several concerns that included high upfront cost, limited charging space and stations, range anxiety & quality battery performance in India’s changing climate. Also for regulatory uncertainties and the need for costly investment in technology , innovation which created hurdles.
For example The Tata Tiago EV’s shows disadvantages as relatively short range in practical driving condition, small sized car, not ideal for larger family & less storage space. Users had an issue with looking for charging stations & battery sustainability.

Another Tata Nexon EV that caught fire after a battery replacement, leading to a court case and a settlement with a Manufacturer.
Potential causes of these blast of EV batteries– Physical damage, manufacturing issues, faults in battery , overheating & external fires. The high energy density of EV batteries can lead to a dangerous process called thermal runaway, where excessive heat and a chain reaction creates fire. The high number of EV blasts in India raises questions about the safety of EV battery technologies and the need for stricter safety protocols.
Solutions that can help in safety assurance
